Volunteering with Shelterbox
Making it happen
Volunteers are crucial to the work of ShelterBox
– without them we would not be able to function.
To check on current volunteering needs please contact info@shelterbox.ca
Spreading the word
We also rely on volunteers – both across
Canada and around the world – to promote our work and make others
aware of the importance of our mission.
This may include giving talks to community organizations, helping
out at public events or promoting our Schools Project to teachers.
We have a team of supporters across Canada but are always keen
to hear from new volunteers who might be able to help. If you would
like to get involved please contact don@shelterbox.ca
Working in the field
The ShelterBox Response Teams (SRTs) that play a
crucial role in delivering aid in the field are also entirely made
up of volunteers.
Most SRT members are from the UK but we are also developing pools of
trained volunteers in Canada as well as the US and Austrialia.
Having volunteers in different countries means we may be able to
respond even more quickly when we need to get help to a disaster
situation.
By talking about their experiences, SRT members also play an active
role in promoting ShelterBox to their local community – wherever
that is in the world.
Making best use of your money
The high level of support we get from volunteers
also enables us to keep our operating costs low and means a very
high percentage of income goes directly on the aid itself.
